“I observe my environment with immediacy—being present and spontaneous are the most important aspects of my practice. I want to transcend “everyday” life, celebrating the energy, beauty and the unknown. Which means always changing it up.”

About
"I live life with enthusiasm, choosing to paint as a way of processing what I see and feel—both to have an immediate and vital experience, and to create an experience for others to explore. Art is the bridge between being and sensing and doing. Making art connects me to the greater universe: to people, places, ideas, and romance. It’s essential."

For nearly two decades, visual artist Katy Kuhn has cultivated a distinct artistic voice characterized by dynamic abstraction, intuitive mark-making and experimentation. A Bay Area native working from her studio at the ICB in Sausalito, Kuhn balances spontaneity with deliberate technique, creating works that invite viewers into emotionally resonant visual experiences. Her paintings feature bold gestural movements, layered surfaces, and a sophisticated color sensibility that suggests both tension and harmony.

Represented by The Studio Shop Gallery in Burlingame, CA, Kuhn has exhibited in solo, group and juried exhibits throughout the U.S. Her artistic growth continues through participation in distinguished international residency programs, including Arquetopia in Oaxaca, Mexico and Chateau Orquevaux in France, where immersive cultural experiences have challenged and enriched her creative practice. Her work can be found in numerous collections in the Bay Area, across the United States, and internationally.
